Each Atma Adventure is a unique travel experience that is fun and active but also purposeful. We choose special destinations surrounded by nature and incorporate activities that lift the spirit and balance the mind and body. It is a time to activate a new perspective in order to move beyond repetitive patterns and toward living a life that is authentically you with less fear, judgment and stress.
Why We Travel
“We travel, initially, to lose ourselves; and we travel, next to find ourselves. We travel to open our hearts and eyes and learn more about the world than our newspapers will accommodate.” Pico Iyer
We travel looking to transform our lives, to experience something new and to feel more alive. Travel that transforms requires a bit of courage as it asks us to step beyond our comfort zone. It may be about trying new things, honoring other cultures and learning about other people without judgment. In the end, it should give us an opportunity for reflection upon our human experience and how we may be able to live more fully, boldly and joyfully.
Why Go on a Retreat
“In an age of speed, I began to think, nothing could be more invigorating than going slow. In an age of distraction, nothing can feel more luxurious than paying attention. And in an age of constant movement, nothing is more urgent than sitting still.” Pico Iyer
Taken from a Latin word meaning “to pull back”, retreats are the most efficient catalysts for change. When you give yourself time away from all daily distractions, you give yourself the space for introspection, shedding layers, and letting go of the stories and identifications. We must give ourselves this space in order to realize our true nature beyond the every day roles we have as wife, mother, friend, sister and daughter.
“We are longing to have the most expansive experience of our life.” Anand Mehrotra
We purposefully design our trips around special locations and they always integrate adventure. This can mean something different for each individual. Adventure requires us to be a bit more flexible, open-minded and self-sufficient and for some this is enough. They are already experiencing life beyond their comfort zone. For others, there may be inspired to participate in something invigorating that involves height or speed. No matter where that threshold is, adventure gives us energy, confidence and optimism. We believe it pushes mind, body and spirit to new places. Stepping beyond your comfort zone is where the real growth lies. It is where your heart expands and awareness increases.
